MY THOUGHTS: A$AP ROCKY AT OPERA HOUSE JANUARY 27TH 2012

This past Friday A$AP Rocky made his Toronto debut for a sold out show at The Opera House. The building was packed, I took to the balcony to watch the show. The sound was good and you can get a good view of the stage. Shockingly this was a Toronto show that was on time. I arrived at Opera House at quarter to nine and was told the opener was going on at 9:30PM. Which was good cause that meant there was time to go to Dangerous Dan’s for a burger and Poutine. If you ever go to a show at The Opera House I suggest passing by Dangerous Dan’s.

Ok back to the concert, by the time I got back the opening act Raz Fresco was finishing up it was just before 10PM. DJ Neff U held it down playing all sorts of hits to keep the crowd hyped. I have to say it was a pretty patient and relaxed crowd. I was about 2 beers deep at 10:30 and decided it was time for my third. As soon as I hit the bar, who hits the stage A$AP Rocky and A$AP Twelvy. I gotta admit I was surprised they came on so early. They started with “Pretty Flacko” which I missed while getting my 3rd Mill Street Organic. I did get back to my spot in time to see Rocky do his 1st stage dive into the crowd. They weren’t expecting that to happen and it wasn’t going to be the last time Rocky would do it. His security guard was on his toes through out the night. It was funny watching him pluck Rocky out of the crowd.

GOT IT COVERED: COMPLEX FEBRUARY/MARCH 2012 LANA DEL REY AND A$AP ROCKY AND JEREMY SCOTT

Complex is back with their first issue of their 10th year in the game. I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since the magazine came out. I can’t wait for the 10th anniversary issue, in the meantime we have two musicians I feel we’ll be hearing about a lot in 2012. Rapper A$AP Rocky joins designer Jeremy Scott on one side while rising pop star Lana Del Rey is on the flipside. I’m a fan of both A$AP Rocky and Jeremy Scott, I’ll be going to A$AP’s show in Toronto on Friday and I recently bought a pair of Jeremy’s Adidas. As for Lana I’m not familiar with her music at all, I think sometime on YouTube will change that. The issue hits newsstands on February 7th but you can read the cover stories now. I added the links below each cover.

SPOTLIGHT WEDNESDAY – N.E.R.D

Way back when Much Music used to play music videos they used to have a show called Spotlight where they would dedicate a half hour to a particular artist and spotlight their music and show various interviews. It was one of my favorite shows on much, it opened me up to so much music. Well I decided to re-name Wednesday video round-up to Spotlight Wednesday. The first artist I decided to profile one of my all time faves N*E*R*D. I have all their albums including two copies of In Search Of all signed by Pharrell. Here are all of the bands videos. My favorites are in the top 5 and the rest are after.
